Discover Wiesbaden's Museum Scene
The Reinhard Ernst Museum showcases paintings and sculptures from the field of abstract art. The striking museum building was designed by Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki, who had already set new standards with his Spiral Building in Tokyo.
If you stroll just a few meters further along Wiesbaden’s cultural mile, you can immerse yourself in the era around 1900 at the Museum Wiesbaden through its extraordinary Art Nouveau collection, or discover nature as an artist in the natural sciences exhibition.
Located right in the heart of downtown, the Stadtmuseum am Markt (SAM) tells the story of Wiesbaden in the historic Marktkeller. The collection includes some 350,000 objects!
Tip: If you’d like to visit both major museums, you can take advantage of a special partnership: With a day pass from Museum Wiesbaden, you’ll receive discounted admission to the Museum Reinhard Ernst. Of course, this also works the other way around.
In Wiesbaden, art isn't found only in museums
Located in a former spa hotel on Wilhelmstraße, the Bellevue Hall has been showcasing contemporary art for many years. A little further down the street, the atmosphere takes a literary turn: the historic Villa Clementine is now Wiesbaden’s Literature House and regularly hosts readings and discussions.
Just above the city center lies the Kunsthaus Wiesbaden, featuring exhibitions, studios, and an art library.
And for those who’d like to explore the city’s history from a different perspective, the city tours organized by the frauen museum wiesbaden offer the chance to follow in the footsteps of the women who have shaped Wiesbaden.
Cinema in Wiesbaden
For a night at the movies, Wiesbaden offers two special venues. The Caligari FilmBühne combines a historic movie theater with a diverse program featuring classics, current films, festivals, and curated series.
At the Murnau-Filmtheater, film history plays a special role. In addition to classics and restored films, the program also features current productions and special event formats.
Delicious Cinema at the Murnau-Filmtheater
At “Delicious Cinema,” the evening continues after the credits roll: Following select films, the palace chefs serve a menu themed to match the movie. This event takes place regularly at the Murnau-Filmtheater.
