Hessen à la carte is a collaborative initiative promoting Hessian regional cuisine. More than 100 member establishments from various regions of Hesse make up the oldest regional quality association in Germany. These establishments can be identified by the red-and-white Hessen à la carte membership logo and their certification certificate.
Hessian cuisine is regional, traditional, innovative, and original. All members are evaluated every three years based on a 10-point criteria list. This includes, among other things, the origin of the food and beverages, the preparation of fresh ingredients, the use of quality and certification seals, and hygiene standards.
35 years of restaurant cooperation "Hessen à la carte"
The “Hessen à la carte” restaurant consortium celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2025 and has been synonymous with regional cuisine and hospitality for over three decades. Under the leadership of DEHOGA Hessen e. V., “Hessen à la carte” promotes the culinary diversity and traditions of the state and offers guests insights into Hessian cuisine.
Since its founding in 1990, the partnership has grown steadily and now includes over 130 restaurants dedicated to serving Hessian specialties. These include classic dishes such as Frankfurter Grüne Soße, Handkäs mit Musik, and Ahle Wurscht, as well as innovative creations using regional ingredients and modern interpretations of local cuisine.
The goal is to showcase the diversity and quality of regional cuisine to guests, combined with high standards regarding the origin and freshness of the ingredients.
